DescriptionBenjamin Harrison: Revolutionary War Appointment Document Signed as Governor of Virginia "Benj Harrison". One page, 8" x 6.75", partially printed, Richmond, June 17, 1782, with some irregularity along the right edge and with some trivial foxing, otherwise fine condition.
Benjamin Harrison V (1726-1791) was a Virginia delegate to the Continental Congress and during the Second Continental Congress, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Harrison was also the fifth governor of Virginia, and it was in this latter capacity that he signed this appointment document for John Thomas Chunn, confirming his rank of major effective August 27, 1781. The document reads, in part: "Know you that from the Special Trust and Confidence which is reposed in your Fidelity, Courage, Activity, and good Conduct, our Governor, with the advice of the Council of State, and on the recommendation of the Worshipful Court of the county of Fauquier doth appoint you the said John T. Chunn, Major of the Militia of the said county of Fauquier to take the rank as such from the 27th day of August 1781...". The document is countersigned by William Davies, himself an officer who served in the Virginia Line for the duration of the Revolutionary War.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
HA.com receives more traffic than any other auction house website. (Source: Similarweb.com)
