AUTOGRAPHS OF SALMON P. CHASE’S SUPREME COURT FROM 1872 OR 1873. Three pages autographed by the members of the Court. Chase signed as "Chief Justice U. States." Includes several Lincoln appointees, most notably his friend David Davis. Missing only one member, either Samuel Nelson (retired 11/72), or Ward Huntsworth (sworn in 1/73), who replaced Nelson (depending on exactly when these sheets were signed). Five of these members were to serve on the controversial election commission which resolved the Hayes/Tilden election of 1876. Beautiful condition but for small smear at end of Robeson’s signature. Neat pencil notations are easily removed. Each sheet 5¼ x 8 ¼". LOA Spence/Grad PSA DNA.
