    ASSORTED SUPREME COURT AUTOGRAPHED ITEMS FROM POLITICAL JUSTICES, INCLUDING TAFT, HUGHES AND EARL WARREN. Eight items consisting of: 1) 1916 TLS of William Howard Taft, commenting on the World Court; 2) 1908 Charles Evans Hughes TLS, on NY government letterhead; 3) 1934 Hugo Black TLS, on U.S. Senate stationary; 4) 1938 Sherman Minton TLS, on U.S. Senate stationary; 5) 1948 Frank Murphy official appointment of a Supreme Court Clerk (the salary was $5392.20 per year, not bad in those days!); 6) Similar, for Harold Burton from 1952 (the pay was up to $6116.00); 7) William O. Douglas: vintage fountain pen signature on Supreme Court card; 8) 1952 Earl Warren letter, on his own letterhead, giving thanks for financial support at the 1952 GOP National Convention (at which Warren was a Presidential hopeful). An interesting selection from these politically-active justices. Also included are some political items: Taft-Sherman jugate postcard, Warren for President portrait pamphlet, Time magazine with Warren on cover, and campaign buttons: 7/8" Taft, 7/8" Hughes, 7/8" Murphy (for Michigan governor 1938), 7/8" Roosevelt- Minton-Shricker Indiana "coat tail," 7/8" Willkie-Bricker-Burton Ohio "coattail," 1 ½" Douglas for President, 1 ¼" Dewy-Warren jugate, and 2" Earl Warren for President (total retail value approximately $90-100.).
