    Archive of John Forsyth Correspondence Signed as Secretary of State Under President Martin Van Buren. Includes: 1) Letter Signed "John Forsyth", one page, 7.75" x 10", [Washington], September 6, 1837, to Reuel Williams (Senator from Maine), Washington, D. C., in this letter Forsyth acknowledges the receipt of a letter, with the usual fold creases, a small area of rust resulting from a paperclip, otherwise very good condition. 2) Letter Signed "John Forsyth", one page, marked private, 8" x 10", Washington, May 16, 1839, to G. A. Otis, Boston, in this letter Forsyth wishes to favor the recipient "with a just reward for your labors in the service of literature and patriotism", with the usual fold creases and some scattered foxing, otherwise very good condition. 3) Free-franked transmittal envelope addressed to John P. Bigelow, Massachusetts Secretary of State, signed "John Forsyth" in the upper right corner, with red wax seal on the verso, toned, else very good condition. 4) Free-franked transmittal envelope addressed to John P. Bigelow, Massachusetts Secretary of State, signed "John Forsyth" in the upper right corner, with red wax seal on the verso, toned, otherwise very good condition. 5) Printed Secretary of State invitation "The Secretary of State requests the honor of Mr. Williams company...", 4.75" x 7.5", dated January 25, 1840, to the Senator R. Williams, split in the folds and toned, otherwise in good condition.
