Bounty Land for the heirs of an Alamo defenderAnson Jones Signed Land Grant. Single sheet, 15.5" x 13.25", docketed on the verso, Austin; August 27, 1845. A grant for nine hundred and sixty acres of land east of the San Jacinto River in Montgomery County issued to "the heirs of James Buchanan deceased". Signed by Jones while he was President of the Republic of Texas, with paper seal of the Republic of Texas Central Land Office affixed near the bottom left. Pencil notations at the top margin reading "Bounty/No. 559". Buchanan died at the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
Condition: Deep folds, yellowing at the top, with toning and scattered staining throughout. Minute holes of loss at the top vertical fold.
