    [Zachary Taylor] Lot of Correspondence From Various President Zachary Taylor Cabinet Members, Circa 1848-1850. Includes: 1) William M. Meredith Letter Signed as Secretary of the Treasury "W. M. Meredith", one page, 7.75" x 10", [Washington], December 6, 1849, to E. Merriam, New York, a response to an inquiry as to the amount of salt imported for the year ending June 30, 1849, with the usual folds, else fine condition. 2) Attorney General Reverdy Johnson Autograph Letter Signed "Reverdy Johnson", one page, 7.75" x 10", Annapolis, March 20, 1850, with the usual fold creases, else very good condition. 3) William B. Preston Letter Signed as Secretary of the Navy "Wm. Ballard Preston", one page, [Washington], May 21, 1850, to Paymaster Robert Townsend (who went on to serve with distinction in the Civil War), Albany, New York, the Secretary revokes Townsend's orders to report for coast survey duty and tells him to await further orders, with the usual fold creases, else fine condition. 4) Thomas Ewing, Sr. Autograph Letter Signed as Secretary of the Interior "T. Ewing", one page, 8" x 10.25", [Washington], April 29,l 1850, to Richard Stilwell, New York, with the usual fold creases, otherwise in very good condition.
