Description[War of 1812]. Charles Thomson Signature and Two Documents Related to Soldiers on Watch. The signature, which has been removed from a larger document to an overall size of 5.25" x 1.25" reads, "Extract from the Minutes / [signed] Charles Thomson." Thomson served as secretary of the Continental Congress from 1774 until 1789.
With two documents from the War of 1812. The first, measuring 7.5" x 3" and dated May 2, 1812, contains a list of eight names (one of whom is a captain) of men returning from watch. The second, measuring 7.25" x 2.75" and dated November 29, n.y. [docketed on the verso and dated March 22, 1815] contains four names.
