    [Presidential Election of 1860]. John Greenleaf Whittier Autograph Document Signed. One page, 7.75" x 7.5". Whittier writes in full: "The committee appointed to secure sort & count the ballots for Vice President of the United States beg leave to report the whole number of ballots is 13 all of which are for Hannibal Hamlin of Maine." He signs along the left margin. Peleg W. Chandler adds a signed holographic memo attesting to the accuracy of the preceding report. Whittier served as chairman of the presidential electors of Massachusetts. Folds with some damage along the lower edge. Together with a 4.5" x 2.75" printed invitation by Chandler to meet the electors of Massachusetts.
