Mellon", one page, 8" x 10.5", on Secretary of the Treasury letterhead, Washington, June 7, 1929, to Mr. Paul R. Mallon, Washington, the Secretary responds to a request made to the New Yorker to retract a recent story (clippings from the story included with the lot), with the usual fold creases and staple rust, otherwise in very good condition. 2) Robert P. Lamont Typed Letter Signed as Secretary of Commerce "R. P. Lamont", one page, 7" x 9", on Secretary of Commerce letterhead, Washington, April 11, 1929, to A. H. Murchison, Muskogee, Oklahoma, fine condition. 3) Henry L. Stimson Typed Letter Signed as Secretary of State "H. L. Stimson", four pages, 8" x 12.5", Washington, December 3, 1929, to "The President", the Secretary reports at length on claims against the U.S. arising out of the occupation of Vera Cruz, Mexico by American forces in 1914, the paper is slightly toned, and there are staple holes in the upper left corner, otherwise it is in very good condition. 4) Arthur M. Hyde Typed Letter Signed as Secretary of Agriculture "Arthur M. Hyde", three pages, 8" x 10.5", on Department of Agriculture letterhead, Washington, April 8, 1931, to the Hon. Wallace H. White, Washington, a long letter concerning the Federal Highway Act, the paper is slightly toned and there is a small area of staple rust, otherwise very good condition. 5) William N. Doak Typed Letter Signed as Secretary of Labor "W. N. Doak", one page, 8" x 10.5", on Department of Labor letterhead, Washington, May 22, 1931, to Mr. S. Sawamura, New York, toned, with a few small stains, otherwise very good condition. 6) Charles F. Adams Typed Letter Signed as Secretary of the Navy "C. F. Adams", one page, 8" x 10.5", on Secretary of the Navy letterhead, Washington, October 9, 1931, to Mrs. Hedley V. Cooke, Washington, the Secretary thanks Mrs. Cooke for her offer to send John Quincy Adams letters for his perusal, mounting remnants on the verso, else fine condition. 7) Ogden L. Mills Typed Letter Signed "Ogden L. Mills", one page, 6" x 8.5", on Secretary of the Treasury letterhead, Washington, February 14, 1932, to George H. Bell, Larchmont Manor, New York, with the usual folds and mounting remnants on the verso, else fine. 8) Patrick J. Hurley Typed Letter Signed as Secretary of War "Patrick J. Hurley", one page, 7" x 9", on Secretary of War letterhead, Washington, July 1, 1932, to Mr. Charles B. Davis, Washington, the Secretary praises Davis for his 64 years of service to the War Department, fine condition. 9) Patrick J. Hurley Autograph Note Signed "Patrick J. Hurley", one page, 6.5" x 9", written along the bottom margin of a printed copy of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, fine.
