Includes: 1) James Campbell Document Signed as Postmaster General "James Campbell", one page, on a partially printed Post Office Department draft, 8" x 4.25", [Washington], August 1, 1853, made payable to Henry C. Jones and countersigned by Post Office Department auditor William T. Phillips, fine. 2) Robert McClelland Autograph Letter Signed as Secretary of the Interior "Robert McClelland", one page, 7.75" x 9.5", Washington, to Attorney General Caleb Cushing, Washington, in this letter McClelland seeks a clarification by the Attorney General regarding applications made by soldiers on furlough or awaiting orders, slightly fades, else very good condition. 3) James Guthrie Document Signed as Secretary of the Treasury "James Guthrie", one page, 7.5" x 9.75", partially printed, [Washington], October 2, 1856, the Secretary signs a customs document for goods coming into the country from England, fine condition. 4) Caleb Cushing Document Signed as Attorney General of the United States "C. Cushing", one page, 7.75" x 10", marked copy, Washington, September 12, 1854, to William Marcy, Secretary of State, Washington, this is a copy of a document appointing William W. Drummond as Associate Justice of the Territory of Utah, with the usual folds, else fine. 5) James C. Dobbin Autograph Letter Signed as Secretary of the Navy "J. C. Dobbin", one page, 7.75" x 10", Washington, July 6, 1953, To Commander George C. Read, Commandant of the Navy Yard, Philadelphia, the Secretary instructs Read to discharge invalid sailors recently returned from the Mediterranean Squadron and Frigate Constitution and discharge to deserters, a bright, bold, letter with two small binding holes in the left margin, otherwise it is in fine condition.
