Description[Confederate Texas]. Francis R. Lubbock Land Grant Signed "F. R. Lubbock" as the Confederate governor of Texas. One partly printed page, 14.75" x 12.5", "City of Austin," August 27, 1862. Countersigned by General Land Office Commissioner Stephen Crosby, this document contains docketing on verso which has lightly bled through. Smoothed folds with some foxing and soiling.
The document grants to "The Mrs. Of John Juffman dec'd . . . One Labor of Land" in "Hardin County on the waters of Cypress Creek." Francis Lubbock (1815-1905) was elected governor in 1861 by a mere 124 votes. After his term ended in 1863, he served as a Confederate military officer.
