Description[Alamo Defender]. Edward J. Davis Land Grant Signed as Governor of Texas. Single sheet, 14.5" x 12.5". Austin; December 22, 1871. A grant for one hundred and thirty-seven and a half acres of land in Grayson County issued to "the heirs of Robert McKinney dec'd". Docketed on verso stating that the grant is a "Bounty". According to the Handbook of Texas, McKinney may have accompanied Jim Bowie to the Alamo in January 1836. He perished alongside the rest of the Alamo defenders.
Condition: Flattened folds, with toning and scattered foxing. Light pencil notations at top and bottom margins.
