    Description

Roger Chaffee Signed Color NASA Glossy Photo from His Own Personal Collection. An 8" x 10" photo with the red-letter photo ID number in the margin, "NASA S-63-20049" showing Chaffee in his business suit pose. It is signed at lower right: "With best wishes,/ Roger B Chaffee". Chaffee (1935-1967) was a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy, flying photographic missions, when he was selected for NASA Astronaut Group Three on October 18, 1963. He served as CapCom for Gemini 4 and was slated to fly the first manned Apollo mission when the tragic launch pad fire took the crew's lives on January 27, 1967. Excellent condition.

Included with this photo is a signed letter of authenticity from Martha Chaffee, the widow of the late Roger Chaffee, attesting to its origination in her husband's treasured collection of signed NASA photographs.
