Description

Robert J. Kleberg Partial Document Signed. 7.75" x 3"; San Felipe de Austin; June 7, 1838. "Assoc. Comm." is written in an unknown hand next to Kleberg's signature; making it likely that this is part of a land indenture. Kleberg served as associate commissioner and president of the Board of Land Commissioners in 1837-1838. The document is also signed by Louis Kleberg, Robert's younger brother, who signs as clerk. From the Robert E. Davis Collection.
Condition: Heavy dampstaining with paper loss across top. A previous collector's notation states that Kleberg founded the King Ranch, but may be referencing that Kleberg's son and namesake married into the King family and assumed management of the ranch in 1885.

    More Information:

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
