Robert F. Kennedy and Edward M. Kennedy: USS John F. Kennedy Christening Program Signed, 1967. 8" x 5.25" closed, 12 pp, Newport News, Virginia, May 27, 1967. On May 27, 1967, the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy was christened at Newport News, Virginia. This program, bound with a red-white-and-blue string was distributed to those present, including Jacqueline Kennedy, the Matron of Honor, and Caroline Kennedy, Sponsor, who christened the ship. The program lists all of the events of the day, including an invocation by His Eminence, Richard Cardinal Cushing, and an address by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The story of the ship and a rendering, along with photographs of President Kennedy, are contained within. On the last two pages are the signatures of some of the prominent people in attendance, including Astronaut John Glenn ("J H Glenn, Jr") and Admiral Elmo Zumwalt ("E Zumwalt"). Also signing were JFK's brothers, U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy (in black ballpoint pen ink, "Robert F. Kennedy") and U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy (in blue fountain pen ink "Ted Kennedy"). Fine condition.
