Richard Nixon: Important 1966 Letter Alleging Voter Fraud in the 1960 Election. February 1, 1966 TLS on his personal stationery, written to Earl Mazo, who wrote a 1959 biography of Nixon and actively investigated possible incidences of fraud during the 1960 election.

Reflecting on his loss to John F. Kennedy five years earlier as a result of "vote frauds," concerned that if reported now it would reflect harshly on the martyred president's memory, Nixon is certain that "some enterprising reporter will, at some time in the future, write a story on the vote frauds of 1960 which might have a great national impact. I suppose, of course, that additional time must expire so that such a work would not appear to cast a reflection on the Kennedy memory...." Richard Nixon believed that voter fraud in Illinois and Texas cost him the presidency in 1960. If he had won Illinois' 27 electoral votes and the 24 electoral votes of Texas-instead of losing to JFK 303-219 in the electoral college, Nixon would have won 270-252.

The letter, signed "Dick," measures 7.25" x 10.5" and is in excellent condition.
