    Description

Revolutionary War Manuscript Document listing military expenses for Connecticut, 1780-1785. One page, 12.5" x 8", [1785], on laid paper with some nicks along edges. Very good.

    More Information:

The document is composed of two columns: expense items and expense totals. Expense items includes such items as "Notes given to the Army for Services in 1780"; "Notes given to purchase Horses"; "Notes issued for the Balance of the late Gov. Trumbulls A/c"; and more.

Handwritten at a later date [ca. 1810] on verso is a note asking that newspaper printers publish the Connecticut document. In part: "Messieurs Printers be pleased to publish in your usefull gazette the following Anecdote to discover to your readers the great prudence and economy that reigned in the conduct of our ancestors, compared with the prodigality that exists amongst us at this day."
