    Description

    Revolutionary War Bond. One page, 8.75" x 14", no place; December 7, 1776. A partially printed war bond for 3,000 pounds to allow General Augustus Collins to raise a company of soldiers. It details that he will be responsible for the repayment of the funds unless he uses them to form "...his own Company, now to be raised, to join the Continental Army..." Collins fought in the "Lexington Alarm," the first battle of the American Revolution, on April 19, 1775, before he formed his own company and rose to the rank of General. Signed, "Augustus Collins" and "David Bull." Countersigned by Jesse Moot and General Roger Newberry. With red wax seals.

    Condition: Small closed tears along folds. Lightly toned.
