    Printed Act of Congress Amending an Act for the Establishment and Support of Lighthouses, et al. Signed in Type by George Washington. One page, 8" x 13.25"; New York; July 22, 1790. Printed by Francis Child and Jon Swain, the act reads in part: "Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That all expences which shall accrue from and after the fifteenth day of August next, for the necessary support, maintenance and repairs of all light-houses, beacons, buoys, and public piers within the United States, shall continue to be defrayed by the United States..." Signed in type by Frederick Augustus Muhlenberg as "Speaker of the House of Representatives," John Adams as "Vice-President of the United States, and President of the Senate," and approved by George Washington, as "President of the United States."

    The number "39" is written in ink in the lower margin. Broadside is untrimmed, with generous margins; with evidence of being disbound along the left margin. Lightly toned, with a few stray spots of foxing.
