A check issued by St. Patrick's Cathedral in the amount of $3802.00 made payable to Cardinal Karol Wojtyla for a mass celebrated on September 5, 1976. Signed "Karol Wojtyla" on verso. Together with a copies of the transmittal letter originally sent with the check, the order of service for the mass, and copies of press releases issued by the Archdiocese of New York about the Cardinal's visit in 1976. Wojtyla became Pope John Paul II two years after this visit, in October 1978.
Condition: Check is in excellent condition; stamp cancellations do not touch signature. Copies included have yellowed a bit from age.
