Philip II, King of Spain, Letter Signed "Yo el Rey". One page, 7.25" x 6.75" (sight); Monzón, Spain; December 13, 1563. A letter to Juan Jeronimo de Romani, regional master of Valencia and councilor to the King, regarding monies due to a loyal subject, Don C. Fenollet. In part: "... we understood the need he had of a supplement and for that reason we command you to accept these two entries that you said could settle his account. Therefore, having seen the privilege of his father by which he had the faculty, from the Emperor our Lord that is in heaven, to be able to bestow his office on one of his sons, and the appointment made by the Catholic King Don Ferdinand, my great-grandfather, by which it appears that Juan Puig, his ancestor received the same salaries we are ordering to provide the said supplement..." Great association, referencing both his father, Emperor Charles V ("our Lord that is in heaven" Charles V died in 1558) and Ferdinand II, the Catholic King.
