    Description

    Paul Jones Semmes Signature and John Brown Gordon Signatures on separate slips of papers, "Paul J. Semmes / Brig Gen" and "J. B. Gordon." Each is excised from larger letters and approximately 4" x .75", affixed together to the same slightly larger backing. Brigadier General Semmes was a native Georgian who was fatally wounded during a charge across the Wheatfield at Gettysburg. During the Civil War, Gordon served under General Lee. After the war, he served as a Georgia politician and leader of the Ku Klux Klan.
