    Description

Patricia Highsmith Contracts Signed for A Game for the Living and Strangers on a Train. Two publisher agreements with Livros do Brasil for the publishing of the Portuguese translations of two of Highsmith's novels. Both contracts are two pages, 8.5" x 11 - 13.25", New York; and are dated October 3, 1952 for Strangers on a Train, and April 11, 1960 for A Game for the Living. The contracts have been signed "Patricia Highsmith" on the second page and is initialed "P.H." at the bottom of the first page. Strangers on a Train was Highsmith's first novel and was later adapted for film by Alfred Hitchcock in 1951. Her most notable work is The Talented Mr. Ripley, which was published four years later in 1955.

Condition: Both documents have been stapled and have hole punches along the left vertical margin; one has circular plastic reinforcements attached over the holes and some chipping at edges. The other is lightly toned. Overall, both are very fine.
