Pat Garrett: Autograph Letter Signed "Pat." One page, 6" x 9.5", on "The Grand Hotel" letterhead, El Paso, August 4, 1889. Garrett writes home to his wife while away on business. He says, in full:

"I have to wait here until tomorrow for Mr. [Charles] Eddy. He is to be here then I am compel [sic] to see him on some business if I go home without seeing him I would be compel [sic] to make a trip to his place soon so think it best to see him before I leave here but it is hard work for me to wait. I never wanted to see you and the children as much [?] as I do now it seems that it has been a year since I saw you if I get away from here Tuesday I will get home Friday or Saturday I dont want to ever be away from you this long again while we live."

Charles Eddy was a New Mexico rancher and business partner of Pat Garrett in the Pecos Valley Irrigation and Investment Company which had plans to dam the Hondo River and divert water to arid west Texas and southern New Mexico through a series of irrigation canals.

Smoothed folds are weakening, causing slight separation at the edges. Very light staining scattered throughout; text remains unaffected. A nice view into the romantic side of the famous "killer" of Billy the Kid.
