    Description

    Orville Wright Photograph Signed in a scrapbook containing other photos, articles, letters, illustrations, and more. The photo (5.5" x 4") of the first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, on December 17, 1903, is signed in the lower margin, "Orville Wright" in black ink. Other items included: a photograph (10" x 8") of "The Army's First Airplane . . . 1909"; photostats of diagrams of the Wrights' plane from the October 1908 edition of the Aeronautical Journal; letters signed by Colonel Richard Gimbel (1946); various images of the Wrights and other early aeronautical pioneers and their airplanes; plus other articles and images. Additionally included is a 29-page booklet entitled, "A Handbook of The Wright Memorial" and a 12-page booklet entitled, "The Wright Replica, Commemorating Fifty Years of Flight." All items are affixed to pages in the album (14" x 11").

    Also included is the book The Physical Basis of Things by John A. Eldridge (New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc., 1934), 407 pages. 6" x 9.25". Olive cloth hard covers. Edges are only slightly bumped. Stamped, "From the private library of Orville Wright coexecutor" on the half-title page.
