Six 17th Century American Manuscripts. 1). Document Signed, "Thomas Hillyard", one page, 7.75" x 12", Massachusetts, August 7, 1647. An itemized bill for 13 pounds, 11 shillings. Smoothed folds, stains. Very good condition; 2). Autograph Letter Signed, "N. Spineks", two pages with address panel, 6.25" x 7.75", ca. 1670, addressed to M.E. Richardson, "near Stamford". A printing of the recipient's book is discussed. Toned. Very good condition; 3). Court Deposition, one page, 6.5" x 7.75", probably Connecticut, October 26, 1678. This regards the drunken behavior of one Robert Arthune of Bridgewater. The subject "...rolled out for more drink...observed him to reale, stager and fall...". Five small areas of loss, stains. Good condition; 4). Receipt Signed, "Jno Richardson", one page, 2.25" x 4.5", location unknown, March 10, 1689/90. Good condition; 5). Partially Printed Arrest Warrant, 2 pages, 7.25" x 9", Massachusetts. Issued in the name of William and Mary, the sheriff is ordered to take one John Pole of Boston into custody. Light stains, browning along smoothed folds. Very good condition; 6). Partially Printed Jury Summons, 2 pages, 6.5" x 8", Boston, Massachusetts, July 12, 1698. The constable of Newton is required to assemble property owners for a jury. Browning on smoothed folds, small area of loss to right edge. Very good condition. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.
