Description

Ramón Músquiz Document Signed as Political Chief of the Department of Bejar and addressed to the constitutional mayor of Goliad. One page in Spanish, 6.25" x 7.75", Bexar [San Antonio], November 23, 1831, with heading, "Office of the Department Chief of Bexar." Musquiz writes that he will forward the information submitted to the governor of the state regarding requested loans and payments due. In 1828 Ramon Músquiz was appointed political chief of the Department of Texas by the governor of Coahuila and Texas; he served until 1834. He was favorable to the many U.S. citizens immigrating into Texas by allowing them to keep their slaves and by protecting them against hostile Indians. Always loyal to Mexico, though, Músquiz assisted with the negotiations between the Mexican army and the Texian army in San Antonio. Present at the Alamo, he helped identify the Texas dead. This document exhibits only minor soiling and slight chipping at the upper right corner. Purchased by the current owner from The Autograph Alcove in March 1987.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
