DescriptionPair of Spanish Documents; King Ferdinand and General of New Spain Don Francisco Xavier Venegas. This lot contains two letters that are related to Spain and the Spanish colonization of Mexico and South America. The first letter measures 8" x 12.5", and was signed by Don Francisco Xavier Venegas, the General and Viceroy of New Spain. It is dated May 28, 1813. Venegas served this post from 1811 to 1813 so this document comes from late in his career. The document allows Don Juan de Acosta safe passage to the capital city to assume his post as lieutenant of the infantry. It is complete with all the legal signatures and seals. The lower left depicts a beautiful Spanish crest. Venegas initials the document below his printed name.
The second document measures 8" x 12", and is printed on one side. King Ferdinand VII of Spain signs the document, on March 18, 1820. Ferdinand VII was the king who spent years as Napoleon's prisoner before assuming his rightful place as king. This document grants the same man mentioned in the previous letter, Don Juan de Acosta, retirement from his post as lieutenant. Ferdinand signs it as "Yo el Rey. F., " or "I the King."
Both documents are in good condition. The Ferdinand document has several areas of acid build up where the iron-gall ink has spread out through the paper fibers. There is a dark stain in the center of the upper quadrant on the Venegas document. Otherwise, both have the expected fold lines, and show some age. Una compra fantastica! Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
HA.com receives more traffic than any other auction house website. (Source: Similarweb.com)
