Napoleon Bonaparte Document Signed "Np". One page in French with imperial eagle watermark, 8" x 12.5", n.p., June 3, 1813, bestowing on Barthelemy Mouton-Duvernet knighthood in the Order of the Crown of Iron: "Napoleon, Emperor of the French, King of Italy, Protector of the Confederation of the Rhine, Mediator of the Swiss Confederation" names "General Mouton-Duvernet Knight of the Order of the Crown of Iron." The document ends directing the Grand Knight of the Order to carry out the decree.

Barthelemy Mouton-Duvernet was a loyal and dedicated French general in the service of Napoleon. He was captured two weeks after this document was signed during the Battle of Dresden. In 1816, he was tried and hanged for opposing the Bourbon restoration. Remembering his general's loyalty, Napoleon gave money to Mouton-Duvernet's children. This document has smoothed folds. Napoleon's signature is large and bold. Also included is a blank bifolium containing two watermarks: one of the imperial eagle and the other reading, "Napoleon Empereur des Fran├žais Roi d'Italie."

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
