Napoleon Bonaparte Document Signed "Napoleon", one page, 23" x 17.5", np, June 30, 1811. Nicolas Alexander Kasinouski, Colonel of the first Regiment of the Vistula is named a Baron by Napoleon on this impressive partially printed vellum document. Decorated with an engraved Imperial French eagle and a lovely hand-painted coat-of-arms, most likely those of the new Baron's family. All inscriptions, including Napoleon's signature, are somewhat faded. Stains and folds, else very good condition. Also included is a massive red wax imperial seal affixed with yellow and gray ribbons. The obverse depicts Napoleon enthroned while the reverse carries an eagle. Wear and one crack. Both items are housed in a custom die-cut box lined with green felt and having separate compartments for the items. Resembling a book, the container has identifying information on the lid and the spine.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
