Mohandas Gandhi Autograph Letter. One page, 4.75" x 7.5" (sight), Durban, Colony of Natal [modern South Africa], circa 1893. Written on his personal letterhead as an advocate for The Esoteric Christian Union and The London Vegetarian Society, Gandhi discusses religious matters. Gandhi, a lawyer by profession, arrived in South Africa in 1893 and remained until 1914. It was during these twenty-one years that Gandhi experienced the racial discrimination and oppression that spurred him to social activism. Matted to an overall size of 8" x 10".

Better known worldwide as Mahatma, Gandhi was a spiritual and political leader for India (1915-1947) during their struggle for Independence from Britain. He rejected all forms of violence and violent protest, his philosophy of nonviolent resistance, which he named satyagraha, is still used by nonviolence resistance movements today.

    More Information:

"There is not letter from you. If you take care sometime, it will not be so bad. I had made preparations to come but in the end it all went in vain. Dr. Mehta was here and he will give you all the news in detail. I do not even know what the situation is there. What are you doing? How do you manage household expenses? How much debt do you still have? Do you pay interest? I wish you would give me some information about this. I am thinking of sending some money next month. I am getting good work here. Comparatively income is so so (not much). I am hopeful of saving some next year. What is the condition of Sister Rallyat? Brother Karsandas is asking for money. It seems he is working without any pay. What is the use if it is true? From what I hear, you have made more progress towards religion. I am happy to hear about this. But I have also heard that in your dealings..." Here the letter ends.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
