    Marquis de Lafayette Autograph Letter Signed "Lafayette". One page, in English, 7.75" x 9.75", Paris, November 8, 1823, correspondent unnamed. In part, "My Dear Sir. I have had the pleasure to write to you some weeks ago by friends returning to England...wonder at the delay of your answer as I am told Mr. Jones is expected from London. You have so kindly undertaken to procure a Loan for me on the mortgage of my Louisiana claim, the particulars of which are in your hands...With my Best Respects to Mr. Williams and Compliments to you Brother I Have the Honor to be very Sincerely and Affectionately Your Lafayette" Lafayette was given land in Louisiana in 1803 by a U.S. government grateful for his assistance in our Revolutionary War. Very fine condition; minor folds. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
