Mariano Arista Letter Signed. One page in Spanish, 8.25" x 10.5", October 6, 1840, General Headquarters in the Hacienda de la Gabia., written to the prefect of Linares, Nuevo Leon. In this letter, General Arista gives directions to the prefect about the replacement of military horses. Arista served as the general in chief of the Army of the North during the rebellion of the Republic of Rio Grande. He served in the same capacity during the Mexican-American War. Later in the early 1850s, he served as president of Mexico.

Following the successful revolution of Texas in 1836, other Mexican states opposed to the centralist Mexican government established by Santa Anna revolted. Several states banded together in early 1840 to form the Republic of Rio Grande. The rebellion, however, was quickly put down. Exactly one month after this letter was written, Antonio Canales, the commander of the Army of the Republic of Rio Grande, surrendered to Arista at Camargo, Chihuahua, ending that republic. This is a very attractive letter written on pale blue paper with folds; fine.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
