Local Elections in Colonial Texas, 1935 - Manuscript Tally of Results Signed by Angel Navarro and Ramon Músquiz. Manuscript document, 2pp. with signatures on a third conjoined sheet, San Fernando de Béjar, Feb. 8, 1835, listing the results of the electoral assembly which had met the previous month. As was customary under Spanish rule, local elections were held during the month of January. In part: "... In the city of San Fernando de Béjar... the electoral assembly of this district, in public session, composed of the citizens who were named for this duty at the general election of Jan. 25 and who are: Jose Maria Salinas, Jose Antonio Navarro, Refugio de la Garza, Francisco Flores, Ramon Músquiz, Miguel Arciniaga, Ignacio Herrera, Jose Flores and Francisco Bustillo. Electors not present were Erasmo Seguin and Placido Benavides... Presiding was the interim political chief of this city, alcalde Angel Navarro... Elected secretary was Ramon Músquiz, the two tellers of votes elected were Refugio de la Garza and Miguel Arciniega... One representative and one alternate to the state legislature were then elected by written secret ballots deposited in an urn. The result was that the representative named by the majority of votes was Jose Maria Carbajal, and the alternate Encarancion Vasquez by absolute majority of 8 votes..." Angel Navarro signs as president, additionally signed by Refugio de la Garza, Miguel Arciniega, and Ramon Músquiz.
