    Leon Trotsky Typed Letter Signed "L. Trotsky," One page, 6.6" x 8.3", Moscow, December 15, 1919. This letter is written on Order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic letterhead. It is a two part military document and reads in part, "…Member of the Revolutionary Military Council of the 6th Army comrade Bitker is hereby appointed the Oktug Military Commissar of the Petrograd Military Okrug…" The letter is boldly signed in blue pencil by Trotsky and countersigned by Ch. Rakovsky. Trotsky was a Russian Communist leader who had a political struggle with Stalin was therefore expelled from the party. Trotsky was eventually banished from Russia by Stalin, whereupon he moved to Mexico. He was later killed by an assassin, whom many people believe to have been sent by Stalin himself.

    The letter is in very fine condition; usual folds are present; some slight soiling is present on the obverse. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
