General Pedro Lemus Letter Signed. One and one-half pages, 8.25" x 12", Monterrey, March 2, 1834, in Spanish on letterhead from the General Command and Inspection of Estados Internos de Oriente notifying the "compania de la Babia" at Leona Vicario (Saltillo) that his troops would be placed under the disposition of a different military commander. Lemus' signature and paraph are slightly faded. Folds and minor soiling.

Loosely translated in part: "Having had notice of the hindrance there was to the aid supposed to be lent by that city to 2nd Lt. Santiago Novayra for fulfilling a commission given him by this General command, and these obstacles being damaging to the administration of justice to the best national service and discipline and subordination of the troops, I have determined that you and the troops under your command be placed at the disposition of the military commander of that city in all ordinary cases."

More Information: General Pedro Lemus was an important general and member of the new government junta in Saltillo following Mexican independence. During the war with Texas, he served as Commandant General and Inspector of the Eastern Interior Provinces. Lemus later joined the Canales cause at Matamoros in October 1838.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
