    General Antonio Jauregui Two Holographic Documents Signed. The first letter: four integral pages written on pages one and two with an address on page four, 9" x 10.75", Sabinas, March 15, 1844. Slight fading and a few small holes at the folds, else, near fine. Written to a civilian apologizing that it is taking so long to clear a note due with the treasury at either Monterrey or Saltillo. Jauregui assures the recipient that the commanding general [Mariano Arista] guarantees the money will be forthcoming.

    The second letter: four integral pages written on page one, 6.5" x 8.5", Sabinas, April 16, 1844. Near fine. Financial difficulties continue to plague the army, ". . . it is not possible to get a half real to take to Sr. Urteaya of the amount he is so in need of, in spite of the good wishes of the General [Arista]". Jauregui assures the recipient that [Arista] promises to do all he can. General Antonio Jauregui commanded the 7th Cavalry Regiment at the Battle of Palo Alto. From the Taking of Texas Collection.
