A certificate of appreciation reading, in full: "Maximilian and Carlotta, rulers of Mexico, desire to give testament of Our High regard to Dona Ana de Francisco Martin, defender of the Cross of the Imperial Order of San Carlos. Given in Mexico the fourth of November, 1865. Maximilian/Carlotta". Countersigned by Juan Almonte, President of the Regency, and on the verso, J.D. Ulibarri, Under-Secretary of State. Includes translation and carte-de-visite of the royal couple.
Condition: Smoothed folds, light handling wear, slight separation at the bottom of the vertical fold, with pencil notations at the top and bottom edges.
