    Description

    Emperor Hirohito Manuscript Letter of State Signed in Japanese, two pages, 9" x 12", separate sheets. It is countersigned by a Japanese minister on the third page. The text is bordered in gilt, 6" x 8", with the royal crest, the kiku (chrysanthemum) in gilt at top center of the first page. Tied together with purple ribbon. One vertical and two horizontal folds not affecting signatures. Hirohito was Emperor of Japan from 1926-1989. Accompanied by a 4.5" x 6.25" photograph of the Emperor on horseback, with the gilt kiku above the oval image. Slightly nicked at edges with mounting remnants on verso. Hirohito's Letter of State is in fine condition.
