Argentina President Juan Peron Signed Documents

Offered here is a virtual archive of documents signed by Juan Domingo Peron during his first term as President of Argentina from 1946 to 1955. There is an amazing total of ten items, nine of which bear his usual signature as "Peron" and one displaying the scarcer, "Juan Person" version. His rise from military officer to presidency and dictatorship of Argentina, accompanied by a continual trade of Anti-American and Anti-British rhetoric has been all but forgotten. It is ironic that this egocentric and power-driven man is now best remembered as Eva Peron's husband, thanks to the play and screen adaptation "Evita". However, he was an important political force in the post-WW II era in South America and helped pave the way for more petty tyrants in the turbulent period that followed. These are great examples of Peron's signature, which is much scarcer than this trove would indicate. These have not been formally translated but are considered to be of fairly standard content. An unusually large grouping of a significant signature. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
