    1. A Commission for Augustus Robinson Hall from 1862, cut into three panels and mounted in a portfolio with tax stamps and seals intact. Signed by Prince George as Commander-in-Chief; Secretary-of-War; Earl de Gray & Ripon; & endorsed by Edward Lugard of the War Office.

    2. A letter of Cap. W. Wright dated March 11th, 1895 about the acquisition of the document.

    3. An Autograph Letter Signed by Prince George dated December 14th, 1890.

    4. Miscellaneous pictures of Prince George, clipped biography of Prince George, picture of Earl de Grey and Ripon, note about the acquisition of the A.L.S., notes about the documents and their acquisition by the maker of the portfolio J. C. Westley. Measuring approximately 13 x 8 inches. Some creasing, chipping and thumbsoiling to extremities. Some foxing and toning scattered throughout. Very good.     George, Prince, second duke of Cambridge (1819-1904), army officer, was born George William Frederick Charles, the only son of Adolphus Frederick, first duke of Cambridge (1774-1850), the youngest son of George III...When war erupted with Russia the duke was eager to serve, and in February 1854 he was chosen to command the first division in the army destined for the Crimea. At thirty-five years of age, he was the youngest of the divisional commanders due to serve under Lord Raglan...On 15 July 1856 the duke succeeded Lord Hardinge as general commanding-in-chief. He was promoted general and sworn of the privy council on 28 July..."[Oxford DNB]
