Description

    [Nuevo Leon] Governor Joaquín García Manuscript Circulars Signed. Three handwritten circulars, each containing two two-sided pages, 6" x 8", Monterrey, Mexico, April 3, 1832, July 2, 1832, and July 28, 1832. Both are issued by the "Govierno del Estado libre DE NUEVO LEON" and bear the identifying ink stamp on the first page. Additionally, each circular bears the signature and rubric of Governor Garcia and of Secretary Pedro del Valle. All three items show moderate age toning, two with dampstaining and some ink bleedthrough. Generally fine condition.

    Joaquín García served two terms as governor of Nuevo Leon during the first Mexican Republic. These general issue circulars announce matters of concern to the local government such as military troop movements, as well as mundane topics such as the observance of bank and local holidays.
