Description

    [Napoleon] Nicholas Trant Autograph Letter Signed "N. Trant". Eight pages, 8.25" x 12", Coimbra [Portugal], March 30, 1809, "11 o'clock P.M." to General Sir William Carr Beresford regarding the capture of Oporto. Sir Trant details the number of men and artillery under his command, as well as the enemy's destruction of the Bridge to Oporto. He also complains about his lack of sufficient cavalry. A British officer who served as a brigadier general in the Portuguese Army, Trant and his Portuguese corps accompanied Arthur Wellesley during the Peninsular War. Minor soiling on pages seven and eight.
