Neil Armstrong Signed Photo and Twice-Signed Program from the 1970 Hubbard Medal Award Ceremony. Two items, as follows.
Photo: A 6.75" x 10" silk finish B&W photo of Armstrong's February 18, 1970, visit to the Friendship Veterans Fire Engine Company in Alexandria, Virginia, known as "George Washington's Fire Engine Co." This is one of America's oldest and most historical associations; George Washington was a member in 1774. On this date, Neil Armstrong was made an honorary member of this group and given a fire trophy. The photo is boldly signed on the lower wide margin in black felt tip: "Neil Armstrong". Just a minute amount of brushing on the "A" keeps this from being a virtually unimprovable example. Another 7" x 5" glossy of the visit is included.
Program: A 10" x 10" four page color program for the presentation of the National Geographic Society's Hubbard Medal to the three Apollo 11 astronauts at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. on February 16, 1970. Armstrong has signed beneath this photo on the inside: "Neil Armstrong" with extremely light contrast and has also signed on the back cover. This prestigious medal is awarded on an irregular basis for distinction in exploration, discovery and research. Winners previous to Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins include Robert Peary, Richard E. Byrd, Charles Lindbergh, and John Glenn. Two unsigned programs also included with the lot.
Both very fine except as noted.
