NASA "Behind the Scenes" Personnel: Collection of Signed Photos and Notes. The astronauts get most of the glory, but there are a lot of people involved in each mission that deserve more publicity for the important work they perform. Here is a group of twenty plus signed items from some of those people. Most of these are 10" x 8" NASA color silk-finish photos. A few of the highlights:
Joe W. Schmitt was the legendary spacesuit technician that suited most of the astronauts pre-flight from Alan Shepard through Apollo and beyond. "Pat---/ You've always/ been NASA's #1/ shutterbug, but/ after I retire in/ December, you'll/ become NASA's/ #1 Senior Citizen!/ Best of Luck/ Joe W. Schmitt".
Jack Kinzler was the Chief of the Technical Services Center who devised the plan to use a "parasol" to fix the Skylab Space Station, thus the inscription. "To Pat Patnesky/ From your friend, the 'Mary Poppins' of NASA/ Jack Kinzler".
Charles A Berry, M.D. was chief or director of various medical operations from 1958 to 1974. "To Pat Patnesky/ With great admiration of the premier/ photographer of our National space effort/ and the people involved. It's a privilege/ to have you as a friend and co-worker/ Chuck Berry M.D." This is an original "red number" glossy photo (S-65-42846) of Berry taken during a Gemini 5 simulation exercise, three-hole punched in the margin.
Bill Muehlberger (d. 2011) taught geology to several generations of NASA astronauts starting with the Apollo program. "To 'Pat' Patnesky/ -a good friend and/ photographer./ Bill Muehlberger/ 'what a neat rock'". The photo is from 1972 and shows Muehlberger closely examining a rock during an astronaut training trip, three-hole punched.
Stephanie Wells is a NASA pilot and training officer for Aircraft Operations. "Pat,/ It's always a great pleasure/ to see you out here. Best wishes!/ Steph Wells".
Chuck K La Pinta, M.D. was an Apollo-era flight surgeon. "To 'Pat' Patnesky/ A.K.A. 'Handsome/ Harry'- a real friend/ for many. Many years and/ the only guy at JSC who's/ better-looking than me! HA!/ 11-24-89/ C. K. La Pinta". Also, a second signed photo with another humorous inscription.
Other names included in this lot: Denise Baisden, M.D. (signed photo); Pat Santy, M.D. (signed photo); Heidi De Block, M.D. (signed photo and long ALS); Susan H. Tilton, M.D. (signed photo and ALS); Charlie Harlan (signed photo); Major General Vincent Huston (signed "red number" glossy from Gemini 8, three-hole punched); Edward C. Burchard (signed photo, three-hole punched); Lon Kidd (B&W glossy, three-hole punched); and five others.
Generally excellent. From the personal collection of longtime NASA photojournalist Andrew "Pat" Patnesky.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
