Mormon Church President Wilford Woodruff Autograph Letter Signed "W Woodruff". Two pages, on blue ruled paper, 7.5" x 9.5", "Historian's Office", April 22, 1856, to George A. Smith. The letter reads, in part: "...I called upon your family and let them know how you were getting along. I then called upon Sister Orson Pritt a moment & told her where I left Brother Pratt. I then called upon Brother Parley P. Pratt to see how he was...I then went to the H office & found 18 clerks as busy as bees...". Folding creases, three pinholes of loss, else clean, bold and very fine. Both this letter's author and its recipient were prominent early Mormon settlers of Utah and Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Woodruff, here the LDS Historian, would in old age serve as the Church president from 1889 - 1898.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
