    Description

Winfield Scott: War-Date Autograph Letter Signed [ALS] to General Henry Halleck.
5" x 8" bifolium letter, New York, April 26, 1863, written to Union forces Commanding General Halleck and boldly signed "Winfield Scott" on the third page. An interesting letter of introduction for Mrs. Mary Duncan who, with her husband, sided with the Union, despite owning property in Vicksburg and Natchez. "This large & distinguished family that has, heretofore, suffered greatly from its steady attachment to the Union are now likely to be subject to the exactions of our own officious sergeants... If a case can exist, requiring special interference & protection, this must be it. But hear Mrs. Duncan." Partial separation at folds.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
