    William T. Sherman Carte de Visite Signed "W.T. Sherman Maj Genl." 2.5" x 4", Memphis, Tennessee; no date [circa July 1863]. A vignette bust photograph of General Sherman, dressed in his uniform. Signed by Sherman below the image. With an H.A. Balch STAR Photograph Gallery backstamp on verso. A small note is attached on verso that reads, "Sent to Mr. Dr. Barnard by Gen. Sherman himself, soon after the victory at Vicksburg."

    Condition: Toning and foxing to the card. Light soiling to the photo edges. Bold signature. The note on verso has been cleanly cut in half, with one half detached from the card.
