    Very Rare Confederate General Ambrose P. Hill signature Signature: "A. P. Hill", 6.75" x 0.75" cut from a check with "Twenty Dollars" also in his hand. No place, no date. Cut from a check issued by the Bank of the Metropolis, Washington, D.C. Confederate Lieutenant General Ambrose P. Hill led Hill's Light Division through the battles of Cedar Mountain, Antietam and Chancellorsville and led the III Corps at Gettysburg. He was killed on the Petersburg lines on April 2, 1865 as he was trying to reach his troops, just one week before Lee's surrender. Slight smudge by Hill on the final letter of his signature. Very fine condition. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
