    Union General William Babcock Hazen: Two Autograph Letters Signed "W.B. Hazen." Both letters are addressed to Union Gen. John M. Oliver. The first, dated June 1, 1865, two pages of a bifolium, 5" x 8", is in regard to back pay for one of his men. The second, dated July 20, 1865, also two pages of a bifolium, 5" x 8", Louisville, Kentucky, regarding the deposit of money with the quartermaster general of Illinois. Gen. Hazen (1930-1887) was a career soldier who served throughout the Civil War and did frontier duty in the West as commander of the 38th U.S. Infantry (comprised of buffalo soldiers). Both letters show the usual folds and age toning.
